Life Is Work is experiencing an alarming rate of Rapid Response Housing and Emergency Rental Assistance requests due to the continued rising of COVID-19. Within the 300 housing inquiries received at Life Is Work (ages 18-35) 82.4%, identity as members of TGNC communities of color, and 17.6% identify as cisgender Women of Color. Due to many factors, Chicago’s West & Southside shelters have drastically reduced their shelter capacity leaving marginalized communities at greater risk. Black and brown TGNC individuals are subject to higher rates of housing and job discrimination and housing accommodations that affirm their identities. Housing and Food insecurities are a matter of survival.

Life Is Work aims to provide a multi-tiered approach to help during the pandemic. The TGNCNB community of color, are at even greater risk due to vulnerabilities in the community. With the national curfew, many are forced off the streets, where survival is key to basic life. We need your help to serve this community.
